"Hoo Do You Love?" V-Day Craft for Kids

Some times the simplest crafts are the sweetest. My daughter and my nephew loved these paintable owl masks that my mom picked up at JoAnn's. They had a blast painting and peeking out of them.

I'll have what she's having

While indulging in the guilty pleasure of reading a People Magazine at the salon, I skimmed through an article on Kate Goselin. In the interview Kate dispelled all of the rumors about plastic surgery and Botox. While I've never given an ounce of thought to Kate's alleged crow's feet, I was interested to read that all of the rumors about her youthful appearance started when she began using this stuff which she calls her "Botox in a jar." I don't know if I need it quite yet but I'm filing the info away for future use. It looks like Ole Henriksen has a full arsenal of tempting skin care products.

Rainbow Cake

(Photo from One Charming Party)

These rainbow cakes have been circling the blogosphere for a while now. I think it's time they circled my table...perhaps for a certain boy's first birthday. See the rainbow cake tutorial at One Charming Party

Cure for the Common Winter

Here is a little retail therapy to combat the winter doldrums. These are some of my favorite new Spring clothes from The Children's Place (all photos are from the Children's Place.)

Because the Sticker Chart Isn't Working

(photo from the NieNie Dialogues)

I found this fun approach to doing chores at the NieNie Dialogues. Read about it here and tell me what you think? It seems like a fun way to motivate kids to do their chores....but at our house the question would arise Whose chore is it to pick up the chore balls? {they would undoubtedly be scattered througout the house in no time}. I still like the idea.

New Obsession: Pre-Ruffled Fabric

In the event that I ever use my sewing machine for something more than a dining room table centerpiece, it would be to make cute ruffle skirts, dresses, pillows, etc with this fabric. Here is a tutorial from Make it and Love it using this fabric and a t-shirt to make a a twirly little girl dress.

One More Way to Make a Fabric Flower

I admit to cannibalizing old clothes to make a myriad of fabric flowers for various projects. And now I can cut up my sweaters too! Check out the how-to at 320 Sycamore.

Ribbon Organization

Check out this simple way to store craft supplies from Smashed Peas and Carrots.

I must adopt this process for organizing my ribbon and trim stash, because my one-giant-tangled-ball system isn't work out as well as I would like.

Part of the reason I have procrastinated organizing the ribbon is that all of the storage systems take a significant amount of time to create. I love this because it's so simple. I could do it while watching Nate Berkus...oh who am I kidding, I could do it while watching Wonder Pets.

The People Have Spoken

I love to see what the editors of People Style Watch find at JC Penney. I love the navy stripes- oh and the red lips! Maybe 2011 will be the year I pull-off red lipstick without being offered a job to work for the circus? One can hope!

A Little Etsy Love: Mooza Designs

While perusing Etsy (one of my favorite places to buy hand-made items online) I stumbled upon these wall letters from Mooza Designs. They are hand-made acrylic-based letters with pretty Japanese paper- so fun!

I LOVE the house numbers too! Very unique!

Sensible shoes

I love pretty shoes but generally speaking, pretty shoes are not comfortable shoes. And like it or not, a girl needs a pair of sensible shoes. What do you think of these Crocs? They are not a brand that is necessarily synonymous with style, but these red shoes are calling to me. I think I could rock these for running around, mad dashes to the grocery store, etc.

Impressed by Impressions

Have you seen Ty Pennington's fabric line called Impressions? It is available at fabric.com. Very fun and versatile...now what can I make with it?

Finally: Digital silhouettes!

I have been meaning to make silhouettes of my kids but wanted to do it digitally rather than the old-fashined way ( I am lousy with scissors). So I was happy to find this quick tutorial from Keeping Life Creative on how to turn a photo into a digital silhouette using Photoshop.

The Only Thing Better Than New Shoes...

The only thing better than new shoes is tiny new shoes.

The term "eye candy" is thrown around a bit too loosely in my opinion, but positively everything on the Joyfolie site is worthy of the phrase. I'll take the whole store, please!
